Maruti Ritz, which has relatively been a less successful model from the India’s largest automaker is all set to get a facelift that will take the same slot right below the block buster hatch, the Swift, that was once not liked by many just because of the way its rear looked.
Maruti Ritz is an entry level offering that comes with a diesel option and with the current trend of diesel cars, diesel sales are rising rapidly and the new facelift Maruti Ritz could help with its sales numbers massively.
The facelift Ritz doesnt get major changes in the outside or inside except for a new front tall grille like in the new Dzire, fog lamp housing, front bumper, rear bumper and a few minor updates to the interiors with respect to lighter color shades. There will be no changes to the power mill and hence will contnue running with the same 1.2L K-series petrol sengine and the award winning 1.3L DDiS diesel engine from Fiat.
Speculation is riff that Ritz will be offered with a automatic transmission in the petrol variant which is a welcome move which will attract more buyers who are looking to buy for the elders and the women of the house. The new facelift Ritz will get the same 4-speed automatic transmission that powers the new Swift Dzire will allow the Ritz to compete directly with the Hyundai i10 automatic that has seen brisk sales so far.
With Swift having large waiting periods and people preferring to buy a diesel over petrol, this will be a good move from Maruti and lets hope the Ritz facelift makes it another best selling hatch from the automaker.
