Yamaha India gave the FZ-S and FZ16 motorcycles a slight update to keep the sales going as it was losing its charm which Yamaha has not announced the update officially, but just a quite mention in their website. The FZ series bikes was a long due for upgrade post R15 V2.0 and Fazer that had updates like a new color and period midnight Edition.
Though the updates are purely cosmetic, they are definitely worth a mention.
Yamaha has introduced a new Fiery Orange color for the FZ-S series that is now being offered in 4 color options, Black Cyber Green, Sunset Red, Competition White and the new one Fiery Orange while the Yamaha FZ-16 continues to be offered in Lava Red and Midnight Black options.
The major drawback in the FZ series bikes was the size of its pillion seat that was strictly for girls who maintained their figure sincerely and Yamaha has heard the not so serious pillion’s vows and has elongated as well as widened the pillion seat- a much needed upgrade.
A new grab-rail has been incorporated on both the FZ series that is now bigger and wider.
Altered Chain Cover:
The chain cover has been altered to cover the lower portion on both the FZ series bikes.
There is no update in the performance where-in the Yamaha FZ16 and the Yamaha FZ-S are powered by a 153cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder petrol engine that produces 14 BHP of power at 7500 RPM and 14 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM that is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Will all these updates, there doesnt seem to be a hike in the price of the Yamaha FZ-s and FZ-16 for which Yamaha is sure of attracting customers and keep their sales ticking.
