Honda Brio Sedan is on the cards for Honda’s next major launch since Honda is feeling the heat among the competitors that will be based on the Honda Brio platform and is expected to be launched in 2013. Honda is also silently working on a 1.2L i-DTEC diesel engine for the Honda Brio and the Honda Jazz hatches will also be likely to power the Honda Brio Sedan.
Honda Brio Sedan will be powered by the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine which produces 88 BHP of power at 6000 RPM and 109 Nm of torque at 4600 RPM and a 1.2L i-DTEC diesel engine that will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The Brio sedan will fall in the compact sedan segment and it is still not sure if Honda is going to keep the Brio sedan under 4-metres to get the benefit of excise subsidary but since the Brio sedan is based on the Brio platform and considering the space of the Brio hatch to be as big as the Maruti Suzuki Swift, the sedan will be more or less the same in terms of space.
But unlike the Maruti Suzuki Dzire or Tata Indigo Manza, the Honda Brio sedan’s design will just not be like an add on boot to the Brio hatch back, instead it will be like how Honda did to the Honda City that was based on the Honda Jazz platform.
Honda is planning to offer the Brio sedan in both petrol and diesel engined options, expected to be priced between Rs. 5-7 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). There will be around six variants on offer and the company could bring in an automatic version some time later.
